Full description
GOCS WMS is a mobile warehouse management application built for cold storage and controlled-environment logistics operations. It runs on rugged, barcode-scanning handheld terminals used directly on the warehouse floor — Zebra MC33 devices today, with Honeywell CK65 support recently added — and is designed around one constraint above all else: the people using it are holding a scanner and a pallet, not a keyboard, so every workflow is built to be driven primarily by scanning rather than typing or navigating menus. The app covers the full physical inventory lifecycle inside a cold storage facility: Receiving: scan an inbound pallet's tag, confirm the received quantity against what was expected, and assign it to a storage location — with the system automatically suggesting the next available empty slot in a scanned location group instead of requiring the operator to browse and pick manually. Locations & putaway: look up and assign warehouse storage locations, with occupancy status (occupied vs. available) pulled from live data when possible. Picking: work through pick orders tied to outbound orders, with validation to prevent picking pallets that aren't actually available. Stock moves: relocate pallets between locations. Repacks: handle repackaging operations where pallet contents are split, combined, or relabeled. Inventory adjustments: correct quantities and resolve discrepancies found on the floor. Outbox: every write the app performs (receive, putaway, move, pick, adjust) that fails due to a network issue is queued locally with a stable idempotency key and retried automatically once connectivity returns, instead of being silently lost or requiring the operator to redo the work. Two design principles run through the whole app. First, it is offline-first: barcode lookups fall back to a locally cached copy of pallet and location data when the network is slow or unavailable, and the app clearly indicates when it's showing cached rather than live information. Second, it is scan- and hardware-key-first: beyond the touchscreen, physical function keys on the handheld are wired to jump directly into common actions (a dedicated key drops the operator straight into Receiving from anywhere in the app, another returns to the home screen), and confirmation steps respond to the device's hardware Enter key, so an operator wearing gloves or working one-handed rarely needs to tap small on-screen targets. The app is multi-tenant: each device is provisioned against a specific facility (identified by a tenant ID), and switching tenants clears all locally cached and queued data for the previous one, so a device can be safely reassigned between warehouses without leaking data across accounts. Authentication is token-based and tied to that tenant context. Under the hood, GOCS WMS is a React Native Android application talking to a companion backend's mobile API, with native integration for both major industrial barcode-scanning platforms in use in the field (Zebra's DataWedge and Honeywell's scanning SDK), so the same app logic works across scanner hardware from either vendor without screen-level changes. In short: GOCS WMS replaces paper pick sheets and ad hoc spreadsheet corrections with a purpose-built, scan-driven handheld tool for receiving, storing, picking, moving, and adjusting inventory in a cold storage warehouse — built to keep working when the warehouse floor has no signal, and built to minimize how much an operator has to touch the screen to get through their shift.
