Full description
Display Torch turns your phone's screen into a simple, configurable flashlight. No camera flash, no clutter — just your screen as a soft, even light source. Features: • Screen as a torch — the entire display becomes a bright light source. • Five brightness steps — tap the screen to cycle through them. • White or red light — two-finger tap toggles between a bright white torch and a dim red light (great for preserving night vision when reading maps or in the dark). • Volume keys — use Volume Up and Volume Down to step through brightness levels without taking your eyes off the screen. • Edit mode — long-press to enter edit mode, then fine-tune the current step's brightness with the volume keys. Your adjustments are saved automatically. • Screen stays on while the app is in the foreground. Why use a display flashlight instead of the camera torch? • Soft instead of glaring — the camera LED is a harsh, concentrated beam that dazzles you and everyone around you. The whole display lights up evenly instead: wide, diffuse and easy on the eyes. • Better for reading, for finding things in a bag, or for moving around a dark room than a narrow LED beam. At the lowest step it makes a soft reading light for bed. • Perfect as a night light for moving through the house while the kids are sleeping: dim enough not to wake anyone, bright enough to see where you're going. • Red mode is handy for astronomy, camping, and night navigation, and is especially kind to sleepy eyes. • Works on devices without a camera flash. A personal note: I built Display Torch because I didn't want to use my phone's blinding flashlight at night to sneak into my kids' rooms. For a while I kept a specific bright webpage open instead — but that wasn't a great solution either. So I built this app. My wife and I are very happy with it and use it every day. Free & ad-supported: Display Torch is free, supported by a small banner ad at the bottom of the screen (Google AdMob). Prefer to use it without ads? A one-time in-app purchase removes the banner for good — no subscription, no recurring charges. Display Torch is open source (0BSD license). The app itself collects no data and ships no analytics or tracking SDK of its own. It uses internet access only to display the ad (Google AdMob) and to process the optional "Remove ads" purchase through Google Play Billing — those Google services may process some data themselves. See the privacy policy linked on this listing for full details.

What's new

Display Torch turns your screen into a soft, adjustable light: five brightness steps and a red night-vision mode. Tap to cycle brightness, two-finger tap for red light, hold to fine-tune and reach options — a first-run tutorial (reopenable from the ⋮ menu) walks you through it. A Quick Settings tile launches it from the lock screen. Fully usable with TalkBack. Free, with a small banner ad; a one-time "Remove ads" purchase is available.
