The barcode scanner requires a compatible camera; manual logging and the bundled USDA catalog work without one. Internet access is needed only for first-time product lookups and optional catalog updates. Generic food data is from USDA FoodData Central (public domain/CC0). Packaged-product data is from Open Food Facts and is available under ODbL. Community data may be incomplete or inaccurate; check the product label.
