3D Geomatics Globe

3D Geomatics Globe invites you to discover our planet in a new way, through an interactive three-dimensional globe designed to help you understand the key principles of geodesy and navigation. AN INTERACTIVE GLOBE Freely manipulate a 3D globe: zoom, rotate, and explore continents and oceans as if you were holding them in your hands. UNDERSTANDING ROUTES ON EARTH Visualize the real difference between: – the great-circle route (the shortest path between two points, following a great circle) – the rhumb line (a constant-bearing route historically used by navigators) Discover why a straight line on a flat map isn't always the shortest path in reality! ACCESSIBLE GEODESY TOOLS Built with a hands-on, educational approach, the app lets you manipulate geographic coordinates, visualize coordinate system conversions, and better understand how surveyors and cartographers represent our world. FOR EVERYONE, AGES 9 AND UP Whether you're a student, teacher, geography enthusiast, or simply curious, 3D Geomatics Globe makes scientific concepts usually reserved for higher education accessible to all. The interface is designed to be intuitive, without unnecessary jargon. RESPECTS YOUR PRIVACY No ads. No account creation. No personal data collection. The app simply works, with no compromise on your privacy. Developed by MAPANE, an initiative dedicated to science outreach, heritage, and digital accessibility in the field of geomatics.
