FurMetric: Pet Food Scanner

FurMetric is a free dog food scanner and cat food scanner. Scan the barcode on a bag, can or pouch of dog food, cat food or treats and get a score out of 100, with a plain-English breakdown of what helped and what hurt. Same score for everyone. Free to scan. FREE TO SCAN, NO SUBSCRIPTION Scan as many products as you like. No daily limit, no trial countdown, and no paywall between you and the score while you're standing in the pet food aisle. SEE WHY, NOT JUST WHAT Every score comes with the reasons: which ingredients earned credit, which cost points, and why. Named meat near the top of the list is a good sign. Artificial colors, unnamed by-products and certain chemical preservatives are not. Where a flag has an outside source, such as the FDA, AAFCO or the ASPCA, we show it. WHAT THE LABEL SAYS Many bags carry a short statement about complete nutrition: whether a food is made for puppies and kittens, for adults, for all life stages, or only as a treat or topper. Where we've read that statement off the label, the scorecard shows it, quoted. SAME SCORE FOR EVERYONE Everyone who scans a product sees the same score. It doesn't change based on who's asking, and it doesn't drift from scan to scan. It changes only if the recipe changes or our reading of the label is corrected. DOG FOOD INGREDIENTS AND CAT FOOD INGREDIENTS, EXPLAINED Tap an ingredient to see what it is and why it's used, from chicken meal and menadione to BHA and pea protein, with citations where they exist. TOXIC INGREDIENT WARNINGS Xylitol, onion, grapes and raisins are checked on every scan and flagged immediately, however good the rest of the label looks. FREE RECALL ALERTS If a dog food or cat food you've scanned may be affected by an FDA pet food recall, FurMetric alerts you, free, with a link to the official notice. ALLERGY FLAGS FOR YOUR PETS Add your dog or cat and the ingredients they react to, and FurMetric flags them on every scan. CAN'T FIND A PRODUCT? ADD IT IN TWO PHOTOS Photograph the front of the bag and the ingredient panel. FurMetric reads the label, you check it, and it's scored on the spot, ready for the next person who scans it. Products added this way come from a photograph of the actual bag, never copied from a website or typed from memory. New additions are marked "Not confirmed yet" until a person has checked them against the label photo. WE'D RATHER SAY "WE DON'T HAVE IT" THAN GUESS If a label can't be read clearly, FurMetric asks for a better photo instead of scoring it. If a product isn't in the app yet, it says so. DOGS AND CATS, WET AND DRY, FOOD AND TREATS One pet food scanner for both: a dog food scanner, cat food scanner and treat checker in one app. WE INFORM. YOUR VET ADVISES. FurMetric tells you what's in the bag and what the label claims. It doesn't tell you what your pet needs. That's your vet's job, and we won't pretend otherwise. WHAT WE DON'T DO No ads. No sponsored placement: a brand cannot buy a better score. No affiliate links: we earn nothing when you buy something we scored well. No account to create. Your scan history, your pets and their allergy flags stay on your phone. FurMetric gives you information about pet food ingredients. It is not veterinary advice. Always talk to your vet about your pet's diet and health.
