Full description
You already know you shouldn't look at your phone while driving. Knowing was never the problem. Freeway notices when you're driving and takes the phone out of the equation until you stop. No button to remember, no promises to yourself, no honour system. HOW IT WORKS Once you've been above your chosen speed for a few seconds, the screen steps aside. Open a blocked app and you're returned to the home screen. It stays that way through red lights, drive-throughs and stop-and-go traffic, and only releases once you have genuinely stopped. WHAT KEEPS WORKING Navigation, music, podcasts, phone calls and Android Auto carry on untouched. Your car screen is never affected. The blocking screen has one-tap shortcuts to your allowed apps and a permanent route to the phone keypad, so you can dial any number — including 911 — at any moment. BUILT SO YOU CAN'T TALK YOURSELF OUT OF IT Detection is deliberately asymmetric: quick to engage, slow to release. A single bad GPS reading won't lock your phone while you're walking, and a red light won't hand it back. Optionally, someone else — a partner, a friend — sets a Guardian PIN you never learn. After that the settings, the off switch and the app itself are protected. It's a commitment device for people who genuinely want to stop, not a punishment. YOUR DATA NEVER LEAVES YOUR PHONE No account. No sign-in. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. Your location is read on the device to work out your speed and immediately discarded — never stored, never transmitted. We run no servers, so there is nothing about you for us to hold. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT ISN'T No app can tell a driver from a passenger, so Freeway will sometimes engage on a bus or a train. It needs Android's accessibility service to do the blocking at all. It's an aid to your own judgement, not a safety device, and never a substitute for driving lawfully. SUBSCRIPTION Freeway requires a subscription, with a free trial. Cancel any time in Google Play.
