On top of the dictionary, it comes with a "Korean for learners" course with English meanings, quizzes, a word of the day and favorites. ■ Korean for learners • 706 words from beginner to advanced, each with an English meaning and an example sentence • 231 grammar patterns, from particles and basic endings to advanced expressions such as -기 마련이다 and -(으)ㄹ 법하다, explained in English with translated examples • Vocabulary quiz (Korean → English meaning) and grammar quiz (match patterns to meanings) • When your phone is set to English or another non-Korean language, the learner menu appears first • All learning content is built into the app and works offline ■ Dictionary • Fast search: type a word, tap Search, and the first definition opens automatically • Even new words: slang and new words not in the standard dictionary (혼밥, 갓생, 소확행…) are searched again in Urimalsaem, marked [Urimalsaem] • Homonyms at a glance: 간과¹(干戈), 간과²(看過) with Hanja, part of speech and main meaning • Detailed entries: pronunciation, conjugations, word origin, sense numbers, subject fields and real example sentences • Jump to related words: tap synonyms, antonyms, proverbs and idioms to open them, and go back with the back button • Note: dictionary definitions are written in Korean (a Korean–Korean dictionary). English meanings are provided in the learner course. ■ More ways to study • Word of the day with meaning and example on the home screen • Korean spelling quiz and 369 commonly confused spellings, with explanations • 487 Korean exam (Suneung) vocabulary words with Hanja, meanings, examples and quizzes • Each quiz has 10 random questions, shows the answer and explanation right away, and gives you a score at the end • Filter any list to find items quickly, and tap a word to open its dictionary entry ■ Favorites and recent searches Tap ☆ on a definition to save the word and review it later under Favorites. Recent searches are on the home screen. ■ How to read dictionary symbols • 간과¹, 간과²: numbers that separate words with the same sound but different meanings • (看過): Hanja or original spelling • [간과]: standard pronunciation • 「명사」: part of speech / 「1」, 「2」: sense numbers • 『불교』: subject field • Lines starting with ·: example sentences ■ Good to know • Dictionary search needs an internet connection. Learning content and quizzes work offline. • The app is free and shows ads. Solve a simple multiplication problem to turn ads off for the current session. • Recent searches and favorites are stored only on your device and are never sent anywhere. You can clear them at any time. ■ FAQ Q. I get no results. A. The dictionary lists base forms. Search 먹다 instead of 먹었다. Q. How is Urimalsaem different? A. Urimalsaem is an open, user-contributed dictionary that includes new words and dialects. Check the Standard Korean Language Dictionary result for standard usage. ■ Data sources Dictionary data is provided through the Open API of the National Institute of Korean Language (Standard Korean Language Dictionary and Urimalsaem). Urimalsaem content is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0 KR. Spelling, vocabulary and grammar learning content was created by CrispySoft (FLUARIS).
