Preflight Lens: NOTAM, Weather

Preflight Lens gives airline pilots an efficient way to review the flight data: NOTAMs, METARs and TAFs, approach minima, the expected runway in use, turbulence along your flight, and the level which gives you the best ground speed or the lowest fuel consumption. Enter your airline and flight number, or simply your departure, destination and alternate. YOUR FLIGHT • Your roster picks it (Premium): today's and tomorrow's flights, read from your phone calendar on this device. • Or pick your airline and your flight number, or choose it from your airline's departures at your airport: departure, destination and today's schedule fill themselves (Premium). • A destination alternate is suggested among nearby civil aerodromes, filtered by weather, NOTAM and distance. A take-off alternate when the departure needs one. The final choice is yours. NOTAM • Filtered to your flight window (Premium), and coloured by consequence: closures and prohibitions in red, degraded aids in amber, the rest in green. • Each NOTAM placed in the phase it affects: ground, departure, flight, arrival. • Long NOTAMs given a one-line summary (Premium). The raw text stays, as issued. • Schematic airfield layout, with closed runways and taxiways shown in red. • FIR NOTAMs: the map shows every FIR on your route, closures in red, other restrictions in amber. WEATHER • METARs and TAFs colour-coded, highlighted at your ETD and ETA (Premium), with windshear, fog, thunderstorms, CBs and other hazardous phenomena flagged when detected. • The estimated runway in use (Premium), from recently observed traffic, wind, preferential runways and NOTAMs affecting runways and approach aids. • Headwind, tailwind and crosswind components for every runway, plus the forecast maximum for the day. MINIMA • Take-off, destination and alternates: each runway checked against your minima at the estimated time, for visibility or RVR, ceiling, crosswind and tailwind, with the NOTAMs in force quoted where they change the comparison. • Enter or verify the minima against your airline's latest documentation. Preflight Lens provides the comparison; the minima and the final assessment remain your responsibility. MAP • Every aerodrome coloured by visibility and ceiling, a coloured ring when the weather turns worse, a bolt for CBs. • Surface wind on each runway now, and up to three hours ahead (Premium). • Rain (Premium) by radar or satellite, with the thunderstorm SIGMETs in force. • Model turbulence at your flight level, and your route drawn along the track typically flown between the two airports. TURBULENCE • Forecast turbulence at your cruise level, shown on the map or as a detailed profile along your flight. • Turbulence SIGMET areas displayed on the map. TIME AND FUEL • Compare cruise levels: the wind and temperature effect at each flight level shows you the difference in speed and fuel consumption. BUILT FOR THE COCKPIT • It flies offline. Load your route before departure and it all stays on board: NOTAM, weather, airfield layouts, turbulence grid, FIR boundaries. Every reading shows when it was taken. • Dark by default, readable at night, with a day theme available. PREMIUM Flight entry by airline and flight number, one-line NOTAM summaries, the runway in use, NOTAM time and flight-phase filters, forecast wind, METAR and TAF highlighted at your flight times, the Radar layer and unlimited favourites come with Premium, a subscription with a 7-day free trial. It is not an aeronautical information service and does not replace your official pre-flight briefing or your company's operational documentation. Runway in use and alternates are estimates; minima must always be checked or entered by users. The pilot-in-command remains solely responsible for flight preparation.
