Store listing

Full description
WaveCrux is a waveform viewer for hardware (chip/FPGA) design engineers. It displays digital logic simulation trace files (VCD, FST, GHW, LXT, LXT2) — a specialized file viewer for engineering data. There is no account, sign-in or registration anywhere in the app, and no purchases. The app is free and fully functional as shipped. FIRST LAUNCH shows two dialogs, in this order: 1. The End User License Agreement. Tick "I have read and accept the End User License Agreement" and tap Accept. 2. "Help make WaveCrux better" — a usage-statistics disclosure with one switch, "Send anonymous usage statistics". Leave it on or turn it off, then tap Continue. Nothing is sent until Continue is tapped. The same switch is in Settings → Privacy, next to the random installation ID that is the only identifier attached to the data. The complete list of what is counted (feature and error counters, app version, OS, form factor, language) and what is never collected (files, signal names, error messages, anything identifying) is at https://edacrux.app/telemetry; the privacy policy is https://edacrux.app/privacy. TO TEST — no external files needed: 1. On the welcome screen, tap "Open Sample Waveform". A trace bundled with the app opens immediately. 2. The signal browser lists five hardware buses (SPI, I2C, UART, AXI4-Lite, APB). Tap a signal name to add it to the waveform view; drag to pan and pinch to zoom. 3. Tap the toolbar's decoder button and pick "SPI" to overlay decoded bus transactions on the waveform. You can also open any VCD/FST/GHW/LXT/LXT2 file from the Files app or the share sheet ("Open With WaveCrux"). All waveform files are processed entirely on-device and never leave it. The only data the app transmits is the anonymous usage statistics described above, declared under App Privacy as Data Not Linked to You.

What's new

LXT and LXT2 files open; every previous build failed them. First launch asks: accept the licence agreement, then choose whether to send anonymous usage counts. The switch is also in Settings → Privacy; the full list of what is counted is at edacrux.app/telemetry. Panning, searching and X-trace no longer stall. GTKWave import reads the primary marker correctly. Cursors, markers and rulers follow your theme, and you can report a problem from inside the app.
