EyeQuilt Value Finder

Value Finder turns your phone's camera into a quilter's value finder, so you can judge fabric value — how light or dark a fabric reads — without color getting in the way. Quilters know that value does the work in a quilt: contrast between light and dark is what makes a design read. But color tricks the eye. Value Finder strips the color out of a live camera view so you can see value directly, the same way the classic glass "value finders" and red "Ruby Beholder" tools do — except it's your phone, in real time. WHAT IT DOES • Live filtered preview — point your camera at fabric, a quilt top, or a layout and see it instantly transformed. • Two value looks, one tap apart: – Grayscale: a true luminance view with a gentle contrast boost, so lights and darks separate clearly. – Red overlay ("Ruby Beholder"): the traditional red tint that collapses color and lets value speak. • Capture to your gallery — tap the shutter and the filtered view you're looking at is saved to a "Value Finder" album. What you see is what you get; the saved image matches the on-screen study. • Freeze / Resume — pause the live view to study a still frame, then resume. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Value Finder collects nothing. No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. Camera frames are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded. The app keeps no data of its own — snapshots live only in your gallery, under your control. PART OF EYEQUILT Value Finder mirrors the value finder in the EyeQuilt web app, ported to a native camera.
