Full description

Field Companion is the official mobile companion to The Emergency Management Field Guide: Leading Through Chaos and Calm by Steele & Haak. Built for emergency managers, public safety professionals, students, and local leaders, Field Companion puts the book's most-used tools in your pocket — ready to reference, fill in, and act on when it matters. THINGS TO REMEMBER Quick-reference reminders distilled from every chapter of the book, organized by topic and searchable in seconds. Browse by chapter or search across all 300+ reminders at once. CHECKLISTS Digitized, fillable versions of the book's real-world checklists — deployment prep, incident command, shelter operations, donations management, disaster declarations, and dozens more. Fill them in, save your progress offline, and export to PDF when you need a paper trail. REFERENCE TABLES Fast-access tables, diagrams, and quick-look lists pulled straight from the book — phonetic alphabets, ICS structure, unit conversions, certification pathways, and more, organized by chapter. REMINDERS Schedule notifications to finish checklists you've started, with the option to export reminders to your calendar. OFFLINE-FIRST Your checklist progress is saved to your device, so you're not stuck waiting on a signal in the field. FEEDBACK Found a gap in the book or the app? Send feedback directly from the app — including screenshots — so we can keep improving both. Field Companion is a tool for the field, not a replacement for training or professional judgment. It's designed to work alongside The Emergency Management Field Guide — pick up a copy to get the full context behind every checklist and reminder.
