Scale Ladder

Scale Ladder is an offline-first scale and arpeggio tempo practice record for pianists who run one named technique session at a time. Cold start opens a fullscreen circle-of-fifths heatmap bound to your active session. Twelve key wedges show your top clean metronome BPM per root. Neglected keys dim so gaps are obvious; weekly gain arcs ring the outer rim so you can see tempo climb week over week—on one deliberate-practice sheet. Tap a key to lock root and relative, then build the session: scale or mode type (major, natural/harmonic/melodic minor, chromatic, whole-tone, and modes), hands (LH, RH, or both), octave span (1–4), and target clean BPM. A practice timer card lets you start and stop minutes played with a large BPM stepper (±1 / ±5). Mark a pass only when the run felt clean at that tempo. There is no microphone and no audio capture—typed BPM and duration only. Save writes the clean-tempo cell and refreshes dimming and gain rings. Switch the arpeggio lane to work triad and seventh patterns with inversion notes stored per cell on the same wheel. The Ladder history strip shows chronological cards for the active technique book (date, key, type, hands, octaves, clean BPM, minutes). Weekly gains view adds sparklines of max clean BPM per key over the last 4–8 weeks plus total minutes on the wheel. The neglected-key coach sorts roots by longest gap or lowest BPM and starts a catch-up session on that wedge in one tap. A seed technique book preloads sample majors and minors across common keys with starter BPM cells so the heatmap is readable on first open. All data stays local. Share a plain-text session summary (key, type, BPM, minutes) when you want a snapshot. A Glance home widget shows a mini fifths ring with today’s top key and your streak of practice days—no special permissions.
