Ember Bench Bands

Read any resistor at a glance, then work the everyday bench sums without a calculator. Ember Bench Bands puts the colour code and the small arithmetic that surrounds it on one dark, readable bench. Tap a band on the drawn part to select it, tap again to cycle its colour, and the value, tolerance and spread update live. Nothing is hidden behind a calculate button. BANDS Switch the same part between four, five and six bands. The value is carried across the change, and the temperature coefficient appears when you move to six. Every band slot only offers the colours that are legal in that position, so the part you are looking at is always a real part. PREFERRED VALUES Snap any figure to the nearest preferred value in E12, E24, E48 or E96 and see how far off the reading was. The error is shown plainly, so you can decide whether the nearest stock part is close enough. NETWORKS Build a series or parallel network row by row and watch the total move as you dial each part. Work a loaded voltage divider, an indicator series resistor and a power check that warns before a part runs past its rating. QUIZ Drill the code in both directions: read the bands, or pick the bands for a stated value. Streak and accuracy are kept as you go, so practice sessions have something to beat.
