Parent Yourself: Self-Care

Parent Yourself is a self-care app for parents, especially new parents, whether you're postpartum or a few years in. It counts the moments you take for yourself and weights them by your kids' ages: the younger they are, the more points each moment earns. With a newborn, your shower counts triple. FOUR AREAS Body, mind, pleasure, connection. A shower, ten quiet minutes, a call with someone who makes you feel better: it all counts, however small. Pick an activity from the catalog or create your own, and log it in two taps. Your favorites and recent ones stay at the top of the list. The Today screen shows your daily goal, with a gauge for each area. YOUR MOOD AND YOUR RHYTHM Rate your mood out of 10 every day. After a few days you have a mood journal: the Trends screen shows how your mood moves, and what time of day you actually get a breather. The Journal lists your activities day by day. OVERWHELMED? The "Overwhelmed?" button opens an SOS screen for when stress boils over. It has guided breathing (you follow a circle that grows as you breathe in and shrinks as you breathe out) and a grounding exercise to bring you back to the present. If several days go by without a moment for yourself, the app checks in on you. It won't judge you, and it suggests who you can reach out to. Parent Yourself is not a medical device and does not replace advice from a health professional. YOUR DATA The app has no ads and no server. Your data stays on your phone, and in your Google account's Android backup if you have it turned on. The only service the app contacts is Google Play, to check your Premium status.
