Dual N-Back - Brain Training

Dual N-Back is a clean, focused trainer for the classic dual n-back task, one of the toughest working-memory exercises there is. A game takes about a minute, and you don't need an account. HOW IT WORKS Each turn, a square lights up on a 3×3 grid and a letter is spoken. Your job is to spot repeats from N turns ago: • Tap Position when the square is in the same place as N turns back • Tap Audio when the letter is the same as N turns back • Tap both when both match, and nothing when neither does Start at 2-Back. When that feels easy, move on to 3, 4 and beyond. DIFFICULTY THAT KEEPS UP Automatic difficulty moves you up a level when you score 80% or more, and back down when you score under 50%. Every game stays challenging without becoming hopeless. Prefer to choose for yourself? Turn it off and pick any level from 1-Back to 15-Back. CLEAR, HONEST SCORING After every game you see the matches you caught and your false alarms, for position and audio separately. False alarms count against your accuracy, so tapping everything won't get you a good score. TRACK YOUR PROGRESS • Every game saved, with accuracy and score • Average accuracy, best performance and highest score • A daily streak, plus an optional daily reminder that stays quiet once you've played MAKE IT YOURS • Any level from 1-Back to 15-Back • Trial speed from 1.5 to 5 seconds • 10 to 50 trials per game • Play silently: show the letter on screen instead of hearing it • Haptic and error feedback, volume control • Light and dark themes that match your phone's colours • Works offline FREE AND PREMIUM Play 5 sessions free every day, no sign-in needed. Want another? Watch a short ad for an extra session. Ads never appear during a game. Premium is a one-time purchase: • Unlimited sessions every day • No ads • Support an independent developer ABOUT THE RESEARCH Dual n-back was made popular by a 2008 study by Jaeggi and colleagues and has been researched widely since. Scientists still debate how far the gains carry over to other skills, so we won't promise you a higher IQ. What you get is a well-made, genuinely hard working-memory workout that shows you exactly how you're doing. PRIVACY Your game history and settings stay on your device.
