Full description
Drizzle is an engineering-first weather radar application built to stay extremely small without sacrificing capability. It is designed to be free forever, launch fast, and remain lightweight across releases. Drizzle focuses on one job: high-speed radar access with minimal overhead. Technical goals: • Keep binary/package size exceptionally low • Maintain responsive startup and interaction on low-resource devices • Avoid unnecessary frameworks and background services • Deliver clear USA, state, and regional radar navigation • Preserve a stable, privacy-first architecture over time What makes Drizzle different: • Native app with a minimal runtime footprint • No account required • No ads • No analytics/tracking SDKs • Local cache used only for performance, with in-app cache clearing controls How it got here: Drizzle was iteratively optimized through multiple build and packaging revisions: • aggressive binary-size tuning, • resource/icon pipeline redesign, • CI/CD hardening, • modern Android toolchain updates (Java LTS), • release signing and store-compliance automation. The result is a deliberately compact radar app that prioritizes efficiency, reliability, and long-term maintainability while staying free and tiny by design.
