Full description
Whether you have never seen hiragana and katakana or just want them back, Kana Ninja does both. Kana Ninja teaches first, then tests — so you are never guessing at a character you have not actually learned. LEARN — 20 lessons, 92 kana (hiragana + katakana) You meet each character through a story built around its shape and its sound. く is a beak opening to coo. や is a ball of yarn with the needle stuck through it. ゆ is a U-turn sign, and the letter U is said "yu". The same goes for katakana — ス is a skier leaning low, carving down and to the right. Every mnemonic was written for English rather than translated from somewhere else. The story then fades and leaves the bare character behind. Next you see it inside a real word. Each lesson ends with a quick check, and then, if you want, a quiz narrowed to just those characters. QUIZ Rounds are finite: a set number of questions, then a report with your accuracy, your pace and the characters that gave you trouble. A wrong answer pauses the round and shows you the right one, so the mistake becomes a repetition. Characters you do not know appear far more often than the ones you do. The ones you have learned still come round occasionally, otherwise you would forget them. WRITING Stroke orders come from the KanjiVG project's real calligraphy data, not hand-approximated drawings. Watch it, trace it, then draw it from memory on a traditional Japanese writing grid. BELT RANKS A character counts as learned after three correct answers in a row. A wrong answer does not reset it, it steps back one. A belt path from white to black shows how far you have come and what is left. ALSO • Hiragana and katakana, base characters plus dakuten and yōon • Pronunciation for every character • A kana table where tapping a syllable opens its sound and stroke order • Round history and statistics • Daily practice reminders • Turkish and English interface • Works completely offline ADS The app is free, so it shows an ad at the end of some rounds. There are no ads during a quiz. Lessons, sounds and writing data are bundled inside the app; the internet is used only to load ads. Your study data — the characters you learn, your scores, your round history — never leaves your device.

What's new

Katakana mnemonics, rewritten. • Every katakana hint now stands on its own — no more relying on a hiragana character you might not even know yet. • A handful of hiragana hints sharpened too. • Small visual polish.
