Do4Brain: Daily Brain Training

Do4Brain is a daily cognitive-training app built by Oversight on Dr. Yossi Halamish's task bank. One small task a day, in the real world rather than on a screen. How it works 1. Choose your routine. How many tasks a day, one to three, on which days, and when: morning, midday or evening. 2. The task arrives on time. At the time you chose, a reminder reaches your phone, and a short real-world task is waiting in the app. 3. Do it, then tick it. Count, recall, imagine or step outside. When you are done, mark the task as done in the app, and your streak grows. What a task looks like • Look around you and list three blue objects. • List five different uses for a pot: for example a drum. • What was the colour of the shirt worn by the last person you met today? • Recall the route from your current location to your childhood home. Four real tasks from the bank. No screen, no equipment, no preparation, and most take only a few minutes. Why it works • In the real world, not on a screen. The tasks happen in real life; the phone only reminds you. • At your pace. You choose how many tasks, on which days and when, and everything can be changed later. • No scores, no competition, no pressure. Just a simple weekly view, and a kind word now and then. • Simple to use. Large text, wide buttons and one clear screen at a time. No previous experience with apps needed. • Hebrew and English. The interface is right-to-left in Hebrew, and English is one tap away. Who is behind the tasks Dr. Yossi Halamish is a cognitive ageing researcher with over 30 years of research, practice and teaching. His conclusion is simple: the brain does not need computer games, it needs a routine. That is how Do4Brain began: about 1,000 original tasks in areas such as memory, focus and creative thinking. Each one is short and clear, and is done at home, in the street or at the kitchen table. Gentle consistency A day on which all the tasks were done adds a day to your streak, and your record is always kept. The rest days you chose, Saturday for example, keep the streak going rather than breaking it. The "My Journey" screen shows your streak, your week, how many tasks you did this month, and the tasks you have already done. Accessibility Large text by default, and larger still if you have increased the font size on your device. High contrast, wide buttons and TalkBack support. Simple to start You sign in with your phone number and a text-message code, no password. At sign-up we ask for a name, year of birth and preferred form of address; email is optional. Most tasks come from the areas you picked, with something different now and then for variety. There are no ads. A question? A real person answers from the help screen, not a bot. Do4Brain is intended for daily practice and enrichment. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or treat any medical condition. Subscription terms Do4Brain opens with a one-week free trial, after which a paid subscription is required to keep receiving daily tasks. The subscription gives access to a tailored daily task, reminders, the "My Journey" screen and the task history, for the whole subscription period. • Monthly plan: ILS 39 per month, VAT included. • Annual plan: ILS 390 per year, VAT included, about ILS 32.50 per month. Payment is charged to your Google Play account on confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. The renewal charge is taken within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you chose. You can manage the subscription and turn off auto-renew in your Google Play subscription settings after purchase.
