DialUp Detox

A little wait. A whole lot of Internet. DialUp Detox brings the dial-up ritual back to your phone. Press GO ONLINE, hear a real modem handshake, and enjoy a timed internet session. When the timer ends, internet access is blocked until you dial in again. CONNECT WITH INTENTION • Start with 35 minutes online, or choose a session from 1 to 240 minutes. • Set a daily blocking window. The default is 9 p.m.–7 a.m., and overnight schedules are supported. • During the scheduled window, press GO ONLINE for temporary internet access. Outside it, your connection works normally. • Play the modem recording in Sound only mode without enabling the blocker. • Enjoy original pixel graphics, beveled controls, and a late-1990s desktop feel. A LOCAL BLOCKER DialUp Detox uses Android's VPN feature as a local firewall to block internet traffic across your device's current Android profile. The blocker discards packets on the phone. It does not analyze or log browsing activity, send traffic to a server, or connect to an outside VPN network. When a session opens, your apps use their normal internet connections. There are no accounts, ads, analytics, subscriptions, or in-app purchases in this version. GET STARTED The setup guide explains Android's VPN approval and Alarms & reminders permission. Notifications are optional. Enable a daily schedule if you want blocking to start automatically. To restore normal access and disable the schedule, open Schedule... and choose Turn off blocker. PLEASE KNOW Android allows one VPN per user/profile, so this replaces another active VPN. It does not hide your IP address, provide a remote encrypted VPN service, or reduce your connection to dial-up speed. Downloaded content can still appear while offline. Separate Android users and work profiles are outside its scope. This is a voluntary focus tool. Force-stopping the app, changing VPNs or permissions, and device battery restrictions can interrupt blocking. Android may delay scheduled actions. Reopen the app after a force-stop.
