Full description
Dot Painter is a calm, wonderfully simple painting toy made for toddlers, preschoolers, and anyone who likes to color. Tap the screen and a colorful dot appears. Drag your finger and a trail of dots follows. That's the whole idea, and it's endlessly delightful for little hands. By default, every dot is a fresh surprise color, so there's nothing to set up and nothing to read. A toddler can make something beautiful on their very first try. When they're ready for more control, a color palette is just one tap away. HOW IT WORKS • Tap or drag anywhere on the canvas to paint colorful dots • Pinch with two fingers to make the brush bigger or smaller • Tap the eraser to start fresh with a clean canvas • Press and hold the save button for one second to save your artwork and share it • A short guided tour shows you all of it the first time you open the app CHOOSE YOUR COLORS Turn on Advanced Mode and a palette button appears in the corner. Pick from fifteen colors — reds, greens, blues, purples, brown, black, grey and white — and paint in exactly the color you want. Tap the rainbow swatch to go back to happy random colors. Advanced Mode is off by default, so the app stays as simple as it started until you decide otherwise. SAFE AND PRIVATE Dot Painter was built for my own kids, so it's exactly the kind of app I want on their tablet: • No ads — ever • No in-app purchases • No data collected: no tracking, no accounts, no sign-in • No internet connection required: it works completely offline • Requests zero device permissions There's nothing to click away, nobody to talk to, no loud music or sound effects, and no way to wander off into the internet. Just a quiet, colorful canvas and your child's imagination. GREAT FOR • Toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners (and big kids too) • Quiet time, car rides, restaurants, and screen time you can feel good about • Finger painting, color learning, fine-motor practice, and open-ended creativity • Playing offline, with no wifi and no data Open it up, hand over the device, and let them paint.

What's new

Added: Advanced Mode. Turn it on under Help (?) → Settings and a palette button joins the toolbar. Pick one of 15 colors and every dot you paint uses it; tap the rainbow swatch to go back to a random color each time. Off by default, every launch starts on rainbow again.
