Coronet: Crown Logic Puzzle

Of the Law of the Realm Set one crown in every row, one in every column and one in every coloured territory. No two crowns may touch, not even at a corner. Every court in Coronet has exactly one way to obey that law. Every province court and every decree yields to the law alone: reason it out square by square, and the realm will never ask you to guess. Of Provinces The realm is divided into provinces of ten courts, two hard courts guarding the throne court at the end: win all ten and the province is yours to hold. Boards grow from 6x6 to 9x9 as you travel, and beyond every province another rises. Of the Peerage Every province court pays up to three stars: one for the win, one for no mistakes and one for no counsel taken. Your stars raise you from Commoner to Baron at 25, Viscount at 60, Earl at 120, Marquess at 220, Duke at 350 and Sovereign at 500. Every rank from Baron up brings its own coronet to wear on your courts. Of the Coronation Win a court and the Coronation follows: the solved board is emblazoned as a shield, and the coronet of your rank is lowered onto it. Every court you win, Double Crown courts included, is entered in your Roll of Arms. Of Today's Decree Each day brings one decree for the whole realm. The week climbs from a gentle 7x7 on Monday to a 9x9 expert board on Sunday. Answer it day after day to build a reign. You begin with one pardon, which covers a single missed day, and your reign earns another every 7 days, up to 2 in hand. Missed decrees can still be answered, oldest first and before today's, and your reign carries on. Each month is a circlet with a pearl for every decree you answer, wrought in bronze, silver or gold honours as it fills. If you wish, reminders call you to each day's decree and, while a reign stands, warn you hours before the next one takes its place. They are planned a week ahead each time you open Coronet. Of the Double Crown At the rank of Baron (25 stars) the Double Crown opens: forty 10x10 boards with two crowns in every row, column and territory, and no two crowns touching, not even a territory's own pair. Each has been proved to admit one solution alone. Of the Advisor The advisor gives two counsels in every province court and decree, each making the next sound move and saying in one line why it follows. Each further counsel costs a short video ad, or nothing with No Ads. Of Three Strikes A crown that clashes with one already set is a strike; three strikes lose the court, and starting again costs nothing. For a short video ad, or nothing with No Ads, a second chance lifts the clashing crowns and strikes the last strike from the record: play on, though one more strike loses the court. Of Regalia Crowns to wear on the board, court halls to hang behind it, and fanfares to play out over a court you have won. They are earned in play: by rank, by provinces held, by Double Crown courts, by the length of your reign, and by answering every decree of a month. There is no currency. Of Royal Patronage No Ads is the court's only purchase. It lifts the banner and the occasional ad between courts, grants every further counsel and second chance without an ad, and names you a Royal Patron, opening every patron crown, hall and fanfare. Coronets of rank and the Champion Crown are always earned, never bought. Of the Customs of the Court - The squares a crown rules out can be crossed out for you - Drag to cross out a run of squares in one stroke - Confirm each crown with a second tap - Left-handed controls - A quiet court: hide the timer, the mistake count, or both - Five board colour schemes, three for colour-blind sight and one of high contrast, plus bold borders - Reduce animations; sound and haptics switches - Four guided lessons for newcomers, to replay at any time May every territory find its crown.
