Dead Man's Vault

Dead Man's Vault is an encrypted on-device vault for private photos, videos, and MP3 audio. Encrypted containers stay in device storage or on a selected microSD card. Contents, original names, and file types are encrypted; container names on storage are random. After installation, look for the neutral app name Reference in English or «Справочник» in Russian. This is the same Dead Man's Vault app. The name does not hide the app from Android settings. How the timer works Choose a period without opening the vault in minutes, hours, or days. Unlocking with a separate PIN confirms your activity. If you miss the deadline, the app attempts to destroy the master key the next time Android permits a check, then remove vault containers. Once key destruction is confirmed, the app can no longer decrypt them. You can add multiple files, subject to available storage and device technical limits. The app contains no purchases and shows no ads. After an import is fully encrypted and verified, Android may ask you to approve deletion of the original Gallery file. If you cancel, the original remains. The timer removes vault containers and only the additional folders you selected in advance. The app cannot find or delete copies that already reached a cloud photo library, backup, messenger, or another device. Your files, file names, PIN, and encryption keys are not sent to the developer. This release does not request Internet access. There is no developer-operated cloud. Important There is no PIN recovery. A secure reset, uninstalling the app, or clearing its data destroys the key. The timer is intentionally destructive: keep separate backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, and test it first with a disposable file. A powered-off device, Android restrictions, manufacturer settings, or missing permissions may delay the check, so destruction at an exact time is not guaranteed. If a microSD card is unavailable when the key is destroyed, its containers become unreadable; container cleanup resumes after the accessible card is returned. The app is not an emergency, medical, or legal service.
