Benchwarmer Beta

Benchwarmer is your e-pegboard for badminton club nights. No more scribbling names on pegs or trying to remember who's played with who. Benchwarmer takes over match-making duties for your club night, so you can focus on actually playing. HOW IT WORKS Add your players, give each one a rough skill level, and let Benchwarmer do the rest. Every time it's time for a new match, the app looks at your whole bench and picks the fairest doubles pairing available — no arguments, no favourites, no bias. Behind the scenes, it's weighing up a few things at once • How long you've been sat on the bench — the longer you've waited, the more likely you are to get picked next • Where you are in the queue — first come, first served still counts • How evenly matched the two teams are, and the overall skill levels involved — so matches stay competitive • Who you've already partnered with — so you're not stuck with the same partner all night Skill levels aren't set in stone either — each result can nudge the winners' ratings up and the losers' down. So the longer you play, the better Benchwarmer gets at calculating fun games. It all adds up to a night of matches that feel fair, fresh, and fun — without anyone having to referee the pegboard. MAKE IT YOURS A few settings let you tune Benchwarmer to how your club night actually runs. Prefer the final say over the algorithm? Turn on manual selection and hand-pick the four players yourself. Want to swap who's partnered with whom after a match is set? Pair shuffling has you covered. Got a packed hall and don't want the app crunching through everyone on the bench? Cap the auto-picker to only consider your longest-waiting players — you choose how many. COMPLETELY OFFLINE Sports halls and Wi-Fi rarely get along, so this app works completely offline. Nothing ever leaves your device — no accounts, no sign-ups, no internet required. Just remember that because everything is stored locally, clearing the app's data (or uninstalling it) wipes your players for good. There's no cloud backup to fall back on, so tread carefully! CURRENTLY SUPPORTS Doubles matches only for now — singles and teams support may come later. GOT FEEDBACK? Benchwarmer is a work in progress, and we'd love to hear what you think. If it's made your club nights run smoother, please leave a review — it genuinely helps. And if something's missing or broken, let us know so we can keep making it better. Heads up: this is a BETA release, and it'll only be supported until the end of 2026.
