Plan your aurora viewing with forecasts, local weather and a map of auroral activity. Aurora Guide brings the information you need into a clear, English-language interface. AURORA ACTIVITY AT A GLANCE View NOAA short-term aurora forecasts for your selected location alongside the latest Kp readings. Source timestamps help you see when the data was observed, forecast and retrieved. LOOK AHEAD Explore Kp history and forecasts for the next 72 hours. Check hourly cloud cover for the next 24 hours and compare conditions before heading outside. EXPLORE THE MAP Browse an aurora activity overlay on an OpenStreetMap basemap. Long-press to choose a location, or return to the place you are currently viewing. SAVE YOUR LOCATIONS Choose a preset city, enter coordinates or use your current location. Save favorite places and switch between them. Custom locations use the device time zone by default; you can enter another time zone when setting coordinates. VIEWING CONDITION ALERTS Enable optional background checks for your saved location. Alerts consider aurora model activity, cloud cover, darkness and data freshness. Checks run approximately every 30 minutes, subject to Android power-saving restrictions. Notification permission is required. DATA SOURCES Aurora and geomagnetic data: NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center. Weather forecasts: MET Norway. Map data: OpenStreetMap contributors. Forecasts are estimates and do not guarantee that an aurora will be visible. Cloud cover, daylight and local conditions affect what you can see. An internet connection is needed to retrieve current forecasts and map tiles. Aurora Guide is an independent app and is not an official NOAA, MET Norway or OpenStreetMap app. EXISTING DATEMASTER USERS DateMaster has become Aurora Guide. This version focuses on aurora forecasts and viewing conditions; the previous date-management features are no longer available.
