When enabled, it reads the package identifier of the app currently in the foreground and compares it with limits you created. When a limited app should be blocked, useLess shows the block screen. It does not read screen content, messages, passwords, or anything you type. Foreground-app detection and screen-time calculations stay on your device. If you send a time request, the app identifier and, when sharing is enabled, the app name are stored with the request and shared with the friends who receive it.
