Full description
Cylux helps parents manage a paired Google TV or Android TV from their Cylux parent account. Key features: - Set daily screen-time limits and weekly viewing schedules. - Lock or unlock the TV remotely. - Block selected TV and streaming apps. - Review app usage and recently detected streaming titles. - Sync parental-control policies automatically. - Restore monitoring after the TV restarts. How Cylux uses the Accessibility API: Cylux uses Android's AccessibilityService API to deliver its parental-control features. The accessibility service lets Cylux detect which app is in the foreground so it can enforce app blocks and screen-time limits, and read on-screen content from streaming apps to identify the titles currently playing for the activity report. Cylux does not use the Accessibility API to log keystrokes, capture passwords, or collect data for advertising. The service runs only after a parent enables it on the TV, and it can be turned off at any time in Android Settings, after which the related monitoring and enforcement features stop working. HOW THE WEB FILTER WORKS (VPN permission): Cylux uses Android's VpnService to filter the web, and only for that. It creates a local connection on the television that captures DNS lookups — the requests that turn a site name into an address — and sends those, encrypted over HTTPS, to your family filtering profile. Your ordinary browsing and streaming traffic is not routed through it: in filtering mode no default route is installed at all, so video, apps and downloads take the normal network path untouched. No traffic is relayed to any Cylux server, and none is sold or shared. When a parent blocks internet access outright, the same mechanism stops traffic on the device itself rather than sending it anywhere. Cylux is not a general-purpose VPN and cannot be used as one. There is no remote VPN server to connect to, no country selection, and no way to route another app's traffic elsewhere. SETUP Setup is completed on the TV with a pairing code generated by the parent dashboard. Android clearly asks the user to approve each special-access permission used for monitoring and enforcement, including the accessibility permission. Permissions can be disabled later in Android's Settings, although related features will stop working. Cylux is intended for parents and guardians managing a household TV. We do not display advertising or sell monitoring data. Privacy Policy: https://cylux.co/privacy Support: [email protected]

What's new

• Cylux now restarts by itself when the TV is switched on — monitoring no longer stops after a restart. • It also resumes automatically after the app updates itself. • Locks, unlocks and limit changes from the parent app apply almost instantly. • The dashboard now shows exactly which TV permission is missing when protection isn't fully active. • Screen time and device status stay current, using less data.
