Tiny Beacon: Family Safety

TinyBeacon helps families stay connected when they’re apart. It’s a calm, caring way for a parent and child to share location with consent, check in safely, and feel close without pressure. Built privacy-first and set up together, TinyBeacon turns “Did they get there okay?” into a quiet, reassuring check-in. A child’s location can be shared with their linked parent, and safe zones can send a gentle note when they arrive at or leave places that matter. WHAT TINYBEACON DOES • Parent–child location sharing — See a child’s latest shared location on a simple map. Sharing is one-way: the child’s device shares with the linked parent account. • Safe-zone arrival & exit alerts — Set places like home, school, or a grandparent’s house. Get a gentle alert when your child enters or leaves a safe zone — “Mira is home” or “Mira just left school.” • Background location sharing — With consent and the required phone permissions, location can keep updating while the app is closed. On Android, a clear ongoing notification shows while sharing is active. • Quick emergency help — A child can press Get help to send an urgent alert to their parent, with their location when available. For immediate danger, call local emergency services. • Simple, open setup — A grown-up creates the connection with a pairing code. The child sees what’s shared and can stop or change location sharing with a grown-up. BUILT ON CONSENT & TRANSPARENCY Location sharing starts only after parent consent and the required permissions. Before background access, a plain-language screen explains what sharing means. The child’s device shows a notification while location sharing is active, so it is clear and visible. For families with children, the parent’s consent is recorded, and the child’s device explains what’s shared in gentle, age-appropriate language.
