Ever wanted your friends to see what you're actually listening to or watching, right in WhatsApp, without you lifting a finger after setup, the way the old desktop Yahoo Messenger used to show your currently-playing song as your status? WhatsPlaying watches for playback on your phone (Spotify, Amazon Music, Plexamp, YouTube, YouTube Music, and virtually any other app with lock-screen media controls) and automatically updates your linked WhatsApp account's About text with what's currently playing, then clears it back to Idle when you stop. FEATURES • Works with almost any music or video app: no per-app setup, no API keys. If it shows up on your lock screen, WhatsPlaying can detect it. • A live "Now Playing" dashboard with album art, a dynamic accent color pulled from the track, and on-screen playback controls (play/pause/skip, seek). • Choose exactly which apps count as sources: enable or disable each one individually. • Share your current track as a designed image card straight to a WhatsApp chat. • Runs entirely on your device: no ads, no account creation, no analytics or tracking SDKs. • Optional advanced mode: relay events to your own self-hosted server instead of (or alongside) updating WhatsApp directly. HOW IT WORKS WhatsPlaying links to your WhatsApp account the same way any other linked device does (Settings → Linked Devices → "Link with phone number instead"), then writes the About field the same way you could by hand, just automatically, and only while something is actually playing.
