SDG Lab

The 17 Sustainable development goals were set up by the UN in 2015 to promote global peace and prosperity for the people and the planet. In alignment with these 17 SDG goals, CSIM has designed the SDG Lab app that identifies broad targets for each goal. The SDG Lab app is a brilliant, interactive, and engaging platform to drive youth towards a more meaningful lifestyle. Through this app we build a sense of awareness and accountability in all our youth towards the state of the world and the circumstances in which millions of people still reside. Under each goal, the app offers numerous initiatives or actions that are required to promote the core focus of the goals. We aim to reach at least a million youth in India through the app to achieve SDG goals- 17 by 2030. The SDG Lab app is a direct clarion call to youth leaders to take the forefront in galvanizing their peers in their communities and at the grassroot level. The app is designed to be user-friendly, and it guides the user with ease through each goal, providing the user with a progress chart at regular intervals. To facilitate monitoring of the SDG implementation, we have designed a variety of tools to track and visualize progress towards these goals. Although equal importance has been given to all the 17 goals. We hope that the app serves as a medium to encourage youth to take ownership and accountability for the projects or initiatives that they invest their energies in. The diverse nature of the goals offers a variety of opportunities for youth to explore so that they may choose projects that are aligned with their own personal interests, aptitude or the resources available to them in terms of location, infrastructure and moral support. Through this app, youth can have a platform to build learning experiences on environmental sustainability, clean energy practices, community projects at the grassroots level and a host of other areas that fall under the purview of the 17 goals. We at SDG lab believe that this platform will serve as a unique kind of classroom fostering the spirit of learning and community leadership. When youth are forced to step out of their comfort zones, they will learn to develop team building skills, creative thinking skills and people skills. It is of utmost importance that the youth realise the impact and consequence of their behaviour not only on the people around them but also on the planet at large. The design of the app and assignment of targets under each other's goal places significant importance on the spirit of philanthropy and the importance of giving or paying attention to the less privileged. At the Institutional level it forms as an important medium of communication between the school and student. There are a host of ideas provided for each goal so that students may also align their chosen goals with their academic projects or assignments. Teachers may work closely with their students to mentor them on initiatives that can fully benefit from their academic knowledge and classroom learning. We urge Institutions to also facilitate the use of the app to implement CSR initiatives so that students play a more active role in building the philanthropic spirit of the nation. We believe if all the stakeholders involved in education come together with the intent to galvanize more youth with passion towards achievement of these goals through the SDG Lab app, then we can all march at a more rapid pace towards a more progressive and balanced world. The SDG Lab app is a unique platform that not only serves as a reminder towards achievement of these goals but can also work as a strong magnet to bring together more like-minded youth to form an active community of change-agents.
