Full description
Recall Alert collects product recalls from US federal agencies and shows you the ones in the categories you follow. Recall Alert is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any government agency. It is an independent app that republishes recall notices the agencies make public. The hard part of a recall notice is working out whether the recalled thing is the thing in your house. So every recall leads with the agency's own photographs, including the close-ups that show where to find a date code, lot number or label on the product itself. WHAT YOU FOLLOW Pick the categories that match what you own: baby and kids, food and beverage, drugs and supplements, vehicles and tires, home and appliances, electronics and batteries, medical devices, cosmetics and personal care. Your feed and your alerts cover only those, and you can change them any time. ALERTS Choose how urgent something has to be before it notifies you. You can also follow a specific ingredient or material, such as peanut, listeria or lithium, and hear about it whether or not you follow the category it lands in. SEARCH AND SCAN Search by brand, model number or lot code. Scan a barcode when the agency published one. WHAT IT CANNOT DO This is not a real-time service. Agencies publish on their own schedules and we collect from them periodically, so a recall can exist for a while before it appears here. Coverage is selected federal agencies (see SOURCES below). State and local notices, recalls outside the US, and actions a company never reports to an agency may never appear. Categories are sorted by software, not by a person. A recall can end up in the wrong category, or in none, and so might not reach you even if you follow a category it should have matched. Most recalls publish no barcode. A scan or search that finds nothing is not confirmation that a product is safe. It means no barcode is on file. Every recall links to the agency's own page. Check it before you act. SOURCES Every recall comes from one of these official sources: • Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC): https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls • Food and Drug Administration (FDA): https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts • National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA): https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls • USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS): https://www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls DISCLAIMER Recall Alert does not represent any government entity. Always follow the instructions in the official notice.
