GhostTooth Pro - Investigate

GhostTooth Pro finds the tracker, then helps you work out what it is. THE SAME DETECTION AS THE FREE APP Pro finds nothing the free edition misses. The same trackers, the same wearable recorders, the same reference data refreshed within 12 hours. Paying never buys better protection. It buys the tools for looking closer, and it supports the work. MAKE IT RING The fastest way to find a tag sewn into a bag lining is to hear it. Pro tries four protocols and tells you which one answered: • DULT, the IETF standard, also spoken by Google Find My Device tags • Apple Find My, for AirPods, Chipolo and Pebblebee • AirTag, first generation • Pebblebee's own tags Plainly: Tile, Samsung SmartTag and non-Find-My Chipolo tags cannot be made to ring by any third-party app (We are still looking into these tags, when we find a way we will add it to the app). And a tracker only rings for a stranger while it is separated from its owner, so a refusal often means the owner is nearby. ASK IT WHO IT IS Trackers built to the DULT standard will report their maker, model, category, firmware, battery and capabilities, without the manufacturer's app and without an account. READ THE HARDWARE The full GATT probe lists services and characteristics with plain-language notes, such as whether a device can be reprogrammed over the air or can act as a keyboard. It reads the device information a product publishes about itself: maker, model, serial, firmware and battery, and it tells you whether the device is already paired with your phone. THERE IS NO REMOTE OFF SWITCH Any app claiming otherwise is wrong. The DULT standard requires disabling to be a physical act, precisely so nobody can silence someone else's tracker over the air. Pro shows you the maker's instructions instead, and reminds you that a tracker you have found is evidence: photograph it in place, and consider the police before removing it. CONNECTING IS NEVER PASSIVE This is the honest difference between the two apps. Pro transmits. A device you investigate can log that your phone reached it, and reading protected values can raise a pairing prompt on its owner's screen. Pro says so before you use each tool. If you might be followed and need to leave no trace, use the free GhostTooth: it only listens, and it cannot connect to anything. If you are comfortable announcing yourself to the hardware around you and want to understand what is really there, this is the edition for that. FOR WRITING IT UP Copy any probe or query as a timestamped block for a report. Export CSV. Optional backup to your Google account, off until you turn it on, with a warning to think about who else can reach that account. PRIVACY No account, no ads, no analytics. Nothing you scan leaves your phone unless you choose to back it up.
