ShapeShifter: Photo Vault

ShapeShifter is a private photo vault that keeps sensitive photos and videos hidden from anyone who might pick up your phone. On your home screen and to anyone who taps the icon, it appears as an ordinary gallery — the icon is a gallery, the label reads "Gallery", and it opens to your actual photos and videos. Nothing on-screen signals that a private vault exists. Only you can reveal it, using a personal unlock you set during first-run. HOW YOUR FILES ARE PROTECTED • Photos and videos you add are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM. • Your unlock secrets are stored only in hashed and hardware-bound forms, never as readable text. • Nothing you put in the vault ever leaves your phone — no server, no cloud, no backup, no sync. USE IT ALONGSIDE YOUR REGULAR PHOTO WORKFLOW • Add photos and videos from your device. • Share into ShapeShifter from any app (Google Photos, Files, WhatsApp, camera) — the file is saved encrypted even when the app is closed at the time. • Manage your unlock preferences anytime from Settings. THE CAMOUFLAGE The gallery view is a real, working gallery. You can browse photos, view albums, mark favourites, archive items, and use the system trash. Nothing on-screen hints that the vault exists — a hiding place only works when nobody knows there is anything to hide. NO RECOVERY, NO SHORTCUTS Your unlock is the only key to your vault. We do not hold a copy, a master key, or a backdoor. If you forget it — or uninstall the app, reset your phone, or clear the app's storage — every file inside the vault is gone permanently and cannot be restored by anyone, including us. Move anything you want to keep out of the vault before uninstalling. WHAT SHAPESHIFTER DOES NOT DO • No accounts, no sign-in, no email required. • No advertising, no analytics, no third-party trackers. • No cloud backup, no server storage, no cross-device sync. • Nothing about you is gathered or transmitted. PERMISSIONS • Photos and Videos — to display the gallery and let you choose files to encrypt. • Notifications — to show a progress bar while a shared file is being saved. • Internet — used only to load the privacy policy page inside the app.
