Full description
AppKeys is a per-app keyboard switcher. Pick a keyboard for each app: your phone switches to it when that app opens and switches back to the keyboard you were using when you leave. A coding keyboard in your terminal or code editor, the keyboard you type fastest on in chat — no more opening the keyboard picker every time you change apps. AppKeys is not a keyboard itself: it only chooses which of the keyboards you have already installed and turned on is used. It does not read what you type. ▶ HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick an app and choose one of the keyboards turned on on your phone 2. Turn on the accessibility service so AppKeys can see which app is on screen 3. Open the app: the keyboard changes. Leave it: your previous keyboard comes back ▶ WHAT IT DOES / WHAT IT DOESN'T ✔ Switches back the moment you leave — the home screen and other apps keep your usual keyboard ✔ If you change the keyboard yourself inside the app, AppKeys leaves your choice alone ✘ It is NOT a keyboard and does not add one. You need at least two keyboards installed and turned on in your phone's keyboard settings. ✘ It does NOT switch languages inside one keyboard. It switches between keyboards. ✘ It works by changing your phone's "default keyboard" setting and changing it back. If the accessibility service is turned off while a selected app is open, that app's keyboard can stay as the default until the service is on again. ✘ The lock screen, home screen and Settings app are never managed. A quick reply from a notification uses whichever keyboard is active then. ▶ FEATURES • A keyboard for each app — no limit on apps • Category rules (Pro): one keyboard for Games, Video, Social and more — even apps you install later • My categories: group your own apps under one keyboard • Time rules: a different keyboard during hours you choose, checked when you open the app • Pause everything or one app: 5 minutes to 6 hours, or until you resume • Quick Settings tile to pause or resume • On-screen notice (top, bottom or off) shows the keyboard it switched to, with a menu to change it or pause ▶ WHY APPKEYS • Automatic: a keyboard switcher button needs a tap every time. AppKeys switches when the app opens • No root, and no automation scripts or plug-ins to set up • No persistent notification — it only reacts when the app on screen changes • No interstitial ads. The free version shows a banner and an ad when AppKeys itself opens ▶ PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS AppKeys has no account or login. Your settings are stored on your device and in its Google backup, if that is on. The app shows ads (Google AdMob) and sends usage statistics and crash reports to Google (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics). App names, package names and which keyboard you use are not sent. What is sent about your apps is the app category assigned by Android (for example game or video), which kind of rule was used, and whether switching worked. Why accessibility? AppKeys uses the accessibility service to detect the foreground app and ask the system to switch to the keyboard you chose. It checks the front app's package name, window class name and whether it is full screen. It does not read screen text or anything you type, does not intercept key presses, and never taps, scrolls or types for you. Notifications: an alert if the service is turned off, and one welcome-offer reminder. Requires Android 11 or later. Privacy policy: https://feelpass.github.io/appkeys/privacy_en.html Per-app keyboards, pause and the Quick Settings tile are free — no limit on apps, no subscription. AppKeys Pro is an optional one-time purchase — pay once, not a subscription: • No ads • App category rules — turn on Games, Video, Social and more • Unlimited time rules and My categories (free: 2 rules, 1 category) • Backup & restore your settings Rules and categories you've already made stay as they are. Part of the Per App series, with Per App Volume Control & Mute and Per App Rotation Control. From the developer of Type and Type History.
