Full description
German Ardennes Offensive 1944 is a turn based strategy game set on the Western Front during the Second World War, essentially offering the German side of the Battle of Bulge. From Joni Nuutinen: by a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011. Patched on August 2026. The historical battle took place in December 1944 in the Ardennes, Belgium, where the American forces recovering in the assumed quiet sector suddenly (thanks to poor weather preventing scouting flights and bombardment) faced the last major German offensive on the Western Front. It was the largest land battle of World War II in which the United States directly participated. In the campaign, you are in control of the German armed forces, and your main task is to reach Brussels, which would open up a route to the strategic port city of Antwerp that is supplying the Allied forces. This would essentially split the Allied armies in two, hopefully causing enough political tension to force the western Allies to consider signing a separate peace treaty. The game is over if: + Germans reach over 180 Victory Points, or + Germans control less than 10 Victory Points. What's unique in this scenario: You'll get MP Depots, which you must permanently commit to a hexagon. These MP Depots give MP to nearby units, forcing you to do long term planning about troop movements and trajectories of the future maneuvering. FEATURES: + Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience. + Competitive: Measure your skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots. + Challenging: Crush the enemy quickly and earn the bragging rights on the forum. + Good AI: Instead of just attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI opponent balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units. + Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of houses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more. + Two Icon Sets: Real or NATO-styled units. + Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup, and uses the names and locations of the divisions that saw combat during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.

What's new

+ New terrain/graphic options + Patches: Focusing on the next unit, one US Division might have re-entered the play for the second time under certain settings/events
