Full description
Cipher Pegs is a code-breaking game played on a small wooden pegboard. The board hides a secret row of coloured pegs, four or five of them, chosen at random. You have ten tries to work out which colours sit in which holes. Fill a row, press check, and the board answers with a handful of tiny keys at the end of that row. A black key means one of your pegs is the right colour in the right hole. A white key means a peg is the right colour but belongs somewhere else. The keys never say which peg they mean, so the puzzle is in reading them: two blacks and a white, and you start asking yourself which two you got right. Repeated colours are counted the careful, classic way. Exact matches are settled first, then each colour is matched against what is left, so a colour you played three times cannot earn more keys than the secret really holds. You choose the setup before every game: four or five pegs, six or eight colours, and whether the secret may use the same colour twice. Without repeats the board is friendlier; with eight colours and five pegs it is a proper workout. Building a try takes two taps. Tap a hole in the glowing row, then tap a colour, and the cursor moves on to the next empty hole. Tap a filled hole again to lift the peg out. The check button stays dark until every hole is filled, so a half-finished row never goes in by accident. Stuck? The hint button crosses out one colour that is certainly not in the secret, up to twice per game. You can switch hints off entirely if you prefer to earn every answer. When a game ends, a quiet card shows the secret row, how many tries you used and your record for that setup. Then it is just again or home. There is no timer, no lives, nothing to watch or pay for. The stats screen keeps games played and won for each of the eight setups, your best number of tries, your average and your current and longest winning streaks. Buzz, default repeats, try numbers and hints are switches on the same screen. Everything stays on your phone: no accounts, no network, no ads. Features: - Secret code of 4 or 5 pegs, chosen from 6 or 8 colours - Ten tries per game, black and white keys after every try - Games with or without repeated colours - Classic key counting that handles repeats correctly - Two-tap entry: tap a hole, tap a colour, check when the row is full - Up to two hints per game that cross out an absent colour - Calm win and loss card with the secret, your tries and your record - Stats for each setup: played, won, best, average and win streaks - Switches for buzz, default repeats, try numbers and hints - Works fully offline, no accounts and no ads
