Whipping Count

Whipping is an offline-first turn counter for rope-end whipping. It is built for riggers, sailmakers, bosuns, and dock hands who bind one rope end at a time with twine—not a generic shop log or paper tally pad. Cold start opens a fullscreen live counter for the active whipping: an oversized turn count, target-turns ring, rope diameter and twine strip, finished-length field, and a large thumb zone so you can add each wrap while both hands stay on the work. Tap +1 per turn, or use an optional +5 burst for long common whippings. Every job lives on a rigging card. Type rope diameter, twine name or size, target turn count, and finished length after the last tuck. Undo the last turn or use a guarded reset so a mis-tap does not wipe a half-finished west-country or sailmaker’s whipping. Name multiple rope-end jobs and switch instantly. The active end stays on the counter; other ends stay queued offline. Style presets—common, west country, sailmaker’s, and palm-and-needle—offer suggested turn ranges by diameter class. A twine tray ships with seed stock (waxed polyester, tarred marline, linen, nylon seizing) and lets you add custom rows. When you reach the target, a completion mark locks the turn total, prompts finished length, and files the job into history with diameter, twine, turns, length, style, and a free-text dock note. Deck-contrast settings include large type scale, high-contrast counter ink, left or right thumb zone, and default twine and style. Jobs, twine tray, presets usage, and history persist fully offline with no account, map, or camera required.
