Capture the mystery chirp once, then let your phone tell you where it sounds strongest. That intermittent beep from a low-battery smoke detector, a forgotten UPS, or some device buried in a closet is maddening to track down by ear alone. ChirpHunt listens for it, learns what it sounds like, and helps you narrow the search room by room — without guessing, without standing in silence for an hour, and without an account. QUICK CAPTURE (free) • Start a listening session and walk away — a persistent notification shows the mic is active the whole time. • ChirpHunt detects short beep-like events and saves only brief clips, never continuous audio. • See the approximate interval between repeats and which events look like the same sound. • Play back, review, and share any captured clip. GUIDED HUNT (Pro) • Pick a captured chirp as your target and name a few checkpoints — Kitchen, Hallway, Garage, wherever you're listening. • Measure at each spot and get a warmer/cooler ranking of which checkpoint the target chirp matched most strongly. • Get a suggested next checkpoint to help you close in. • Wrap up with a closeout note once you've found the source. LONG WATCH (Pro) • For chirps that only happen every hour or longer, run an extended listening session — up to 8 hours — with the screen off. • Come back to a summary of what was detected while you were away. SHAREABLE HUNT REPORT (Pro) • Export a PDF summary of a hunt — checkpoints, timestamps, and the warmer/cooler ranking — to share with a roommate, landlord, or maintenance team. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, ever. • No cloud audio storage — everything stays on your device. • The microphone is active only during a session you started, and a notification always shows when it's listening. • You control clip retention and can delete everything, anytime. WHAT CHIRPHUNT IS NOT ChirpHunt is an audio comparison utility. It does not detect smoke, carbon monoxide, fire, gas, or other hazards, test alarms, or determine that an area is safe. It compares sounds you capture — it doesn't diagnose devices or guarantee results. If an alarm is sounding continuously, speaking a warning, or anyone has symptoms such as headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, or breathing difficulty, leave the area and contact emergency services immediately.
