Full description
Need to scan a document? Phone Scan uses the camera on your Android phone as a scanner. Capture the page, straighten it, and share a clean copy in a few taps. You do not need a desk scanner, a USB cable, or an account. How to scan a document 1. Open Phone Scan and allow the camera when asked. 2. Place the paper on a contrasting surface. A white sheet on a dark table is easier to detect than a white sheet on a white table. 3. Frame the page so all four corners are visible. Hold steady and capture. 4. Corners are detected for you. Drag the markers only if an edge is off. 5. Save or share the scanned document. You don't have to hold the phone perfectly overhead. Shoot slightly from the side if your hand would cast a shadow, or if a lamp would glare on glossy paper or a laminated ID. Perspective is corrected even when you photograph at an angle. Contrast is raised, and the page becomes a clear black-and-white scan. Scan documents instead of sending photos A regular camera photo still shows the table, the glare, and the tilt. Paper looks gray or yellow. Text sits at an angle. One shot can weigh 5–10 MB, which many mailboxes reject. A scanned document is cropped, upright, and easy to read. Use Phone Scan when you need to: - Send a signed contract, receipt, or form from home - Upload a passport, driver's license, or other ID for a rental or visa - Keep a warranty card - Digitize homework, letters, or a library page - Finish the job when the office scanner will not connect When the computer cannot find the scanner The multifunction printer sits on "Connecting..." You search for drivers. Meanwhile the signed page is still on the table. Document scanning on your phone works at a desk, in a taxi, or in a café. There is no cable to plug in and no driver to reinstall. A photo from the gallery is not a scan: - The table and your hands stay in the frame - Paper looks gray instead of white - Text is small and hard to print - The file is heavy because it stores desk texture, shadows, and millions of colors Phone Scan crops the page, stands it upright, and keeps black text on a white background. The file is much lighter than the original photo, so it is easier to email or share. How to get a clear shot - Use even light. A window on an overcast day works well. Avoid a single harsh lamp, and avoid flash on glossy paper. - Stand so your body and phone do not throw a shadow across the text. - Keep all four corners in the frame. The app can straighten a trapezoid. It cannot recover a corner that was never captured. - Tap to focus on the text, not the table. Hold steady. - For a book, keep fingers off the words. The page may curve at the spine; capture it anyway and check the corners. Share from your phone When the scan is ready, send it through email, a messenger, or cloud storage such as Drive. Repeat for the next page if you have several sheets. Files are saved as PNG images. If you need a PDF, convert the image in Drive or another app. Text recognition is not included yet. Privacy Scanning documents stays on your device. The camera feed and the captured image are processed on the phone. Photos are not stored on our servers. No account. No sign-up. Phone Scan is free to use.
