Every kept photo is hashed: a cryptographic fingerprint (SHA-256), a Merkle tree over the whole set, an RFC-3161 timestamp token when the authority is reachable, and location when the device provided it. That combination documents photographed condition. It is tamper-evident as far as the hash and timestamp design. It does not guarantee a charge will be reversed. At return, you scan again. carseal runs an AI-assisted review of possible changes since pickup. Possible change needs review; this does not establish who caused it. You get a tamper-evident PDF Return Certificate with highlighted areas on the photos, and a public check link for listed hashes. If a charge lands anyway, one tap builds a dispute packet — a written rebuttal citing your sealed hashes, ready for the rental desk, your card issuer's chargeback, or your insurer.
