Caretta Friends is a cute, field-ready app for volunteers who protect loggerhead sea-turtle (Caretta caretta) nests — from the crawl at dawn to the night the hatchlings reach the sea. Made for Caretta Gazipaşa on Türkiye's protected nesting beaches, and designed to work for any sea-turtle volunteer community. WHAT IT DOES • Shared map of every nest, beach and trash spot — mark a nest in seconds with a photo (auto-geotagged). • AR nest finder — point your phone and see nests pinned where they physically are. • Nest lifecycle — countdown to hatch, a timeline of updates, and an honest temperature-based sex-prediction range. • Excavation record — hatching % and emergence success, exported as a PDF for the local authority. • Field guides & facts — what to do when you find a nest, no lights at night, beach rules — in your language. • Patrols & coverage — so volunteers don't re-walk a covered stretch. • Your impact — see how many hatchlings you helped reach the sea, keep a streak, earn badges. What's new

Photos now sync between phones, with their metadata stripped first, and your profile shows your own nests only. A nest can be recorded only where a turtle could have dug: the app checks the photo's location against the shoreline. Excavation counts add up — typing a number replaces it instead of being added to it, and rescued hatchlings count as part of those found in the nest. A nest a coordinator removes now disappears from your map too.
