Calia Keys

Calia Keys is a flexible musical workspace that brings harmony, melody, chord looping, recording and practical tools together — for exploring, practicing and developing your own musical ideas. It started from a simple idea: give musicians a practical way to put musical concepts into action. Play melodies, experiment with harmony, try chord progressions and combine musical elements freely. Because sometimes a progression becomes an idea, a melody appears unexpectedly, and a simple experiment becomes the starting point for something you can continue developing inside Calia Keys or later in a music production environment. ▸ VIRTUAL KEYS Play melodies, chords and musical ideas using a virtual instrument with selectable 4/4, 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures and a metronome. Expand the experience with additional instruments, Sustain and Hold options, independent octave controls and the Melody Looper. With the Melody Looper, you can record four-bar melodic ideas, apply quantization and combine your melody with a harmonic progression. ▸ CHORD LOOPER Work with harmony through five predefined chord progressions or build your own with the Custom editor. Play predefined progressions in any key and major or minor mode, and adjust the tempo to fit your idea. Define the rhythmic behavior of each of the four chords individually. For greater harmonic freedom, the Custom editor lets you shape each chord individually: choose its root, bass note, alterations, major or minor third, Sus2 or Sus4, fifth, and seventh or ninth extensions. With the corresponding access level, you can also add beat and hi-hat for extra rhythmic movement and save up to three Custom progressions for later use. ▸ WHEN MELODY MEETS HARMONY Progressions from the Chord Looper can become the harmonic background for the Melody Looper. Play and record a melody over a progression, experiment with how melody and harmony interact, and turn a simple musical experiment into the starting point for a more complete idea. Use one of the predefined progressions or one of your own creations. It can remain a moment of practice and experimentation — or become the beginning of something bigger. ▸ EXPORT AND KEEP DEVELOPING Your musical ideas do not have to stay inside Calia Keys. Depending on your access level, supported creations can be exported as MP3, WAV or MIDI files. Take an idea beyond the app and continue developing it later in a DAW or another music production workflow. ▸ FLEXIBLE MUSICAL TOOLS Adapt Calia Keys to the way you want to work with instrument selection, independent octave controls, volume faders, bass, beat, hi-hat and metronome behavior while recording. Calia Keys is designed to give you tools rather than tell you what to do with them. ▸ FREE, PLUS AND FULL Calia Keys includes a core set of tools for playing, practicing and exploring music. Plus expands the experience with additional instruments, Custom progression saving, rhythmic tools, MP3 export and further controls. Full opens the complete creative workflow with the Melody Looper, WAV and MIDI export, advanced volume controls and additional customization options. No lessons to follow. No fixed way to use it. Explore harmony. Play melodies. Practice what you know. Accompany yourself. Experiment. Develop an idea. Explore. Practice. Create. Your way.
