Battery Reminder: Charge Alert

🔋 The Problem: Why Phone Batteries Degrade So Fast Most smartphones use Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. Battery research and manufacturers recommend keeping battery levels between **40% and 80%** for optimal longevity. - **Overcharging degrades battery health:** Leaving your phone plugged in after it hits 80%–100% exposes the battery to sustained high voltage and heat—the #1 cause of permanent capacity loss. - **Easy to forget:** Most people plug in their phone and forget to unplug it until it's already sitting at 100% for hours. - **Android only alerts on low battery:** Your phone automatically warns you when the battery is dying (15%–20%), but gives **no native alert** when your phone is charged beyond what you actually need. --- 💡 The Solution: Battery Reminder **Battery Reminder: Charge Alert** is a featherlight (< 2 MB), privacy-first utility built specifically to stop overcharging and extend your phone's battery lifespan by years. - **Set Your Custom Target:** Get an instant audible notification when your phone reaches 80%, 85%, or any custom percentage. - **Repeatable Reminders (Snooze):** In case your phone is in another room or you miss the first chime, repeatable reminders ensure you unplug on time. - **Featherlight (< 2 MB):** Pure native Android (Jetpack Compose). No bloat, no background battery drain, no background CPU spikes. - **Zero Ads, Zero Tracking:** 100% offline. No telemetry, no third-party SDKs, no permissions abused. - **Modern Material 3 UI:** Clean, intuitive interface with full Dark & Light mode support. --- ### ⚡ Main Features - **Custom High-Charge Alarm:** Set any high threshold (e.g., 80% or 90%) to protect battery chemistry from high-voltage stress. - **Custom Low-Battery Alert:** Set a low threshold (e.g., 25% or 20%) to avoid damaging deep discharges. - **Repeatable Snooze Reminders:** Missed the first notification? Set automatic snooze intervals (5, 10, or 15 mins) until you unplug your phone. - **Notification Shade Actions:** Snooze or dismiss alerts directly from your notification panel without even opening the app. - **Custom Sounds & Volume:** Select custom alert ringtones and volumes that won't disrupt your sleep or meetings. - **Automatic Boot Recovery:** Monitors reliably in the background even after restarting your device. --- 🛡️ Why Maintain the 80% Habit? Stopping charge at 80% can roughly **double the cycle lifespan** of a lithium-ion battery compared to letting it sit at 100%. Keep your phone running like new for years without needing costly battery replacements. 📋 Technical Highlights - Modern Jetpack Compose UI - Material 3 Design with Light & Dark themes - Android 14 & Android 15 ready - Quick notification actions (Snooze / Dismiss) - Configurable reminder intervals --- *Questions or feedback?
