Lockout

Lockout is the child companion app for the Lockout study system. It works together with the Lockout Parent app to help children focus on learning and earn their screen time. HOW IT WORKS A parent sets up study goals in the Lockout Parent app — reading passages, math practice, or both, with more study subjects to come in the near future. This companion app runs on the child's device, where it presents the study content the parent has chosen. Once the child completes their study goals, they earn the free time the parent has set. FOR PARENTS, BY DESIGN Everything in Lockout is controlled by the parent. Parents configure study subjects, daily goals, schedules, and free-time limits — all from the Parent app. This companion app simply carries out what the parent has set up. It is protected by a parent PIN so children cannot change the settings. WHAT'S INSIDE - Reading comprehension passages with questions - Math practice (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) - A clear, friendly interface designed for kids - Emergency contacts a parent can set, so a child can always reach them - Optional study-time enforcement that keeps kids on task (parent-enabled) STUDY-TIME ENFORCEMENT With the parent's setup, Lockout can gently keep a child in the study app during study time, returning them to their work if they navigate away. This uses Android's Accessibility Service solely to detect which app is in the foreground. It does not read screen content, keystrokes, passwords, or personal data — it is used only to enforce the study time a parent has set, and the parent controls it entirely.
