Full description
Your papers are not lost. They are somewhere. That is the whole problem. Shelfmark is a private register of where your physical documents actually are — which almirah, which file, which folder — plus who is holding the original right now and when it needs renewing. It is not a scanner and not a cloud vault. It never asks you to photograph anything. It just remembers what the paper itself cannot tell you. WHERE IS IT, IN TEN SECONDS Type "rent" and see: Original in the steel almirah, File 3, front pocket. Two photocopies in the blue folder. Renews in 47 days. No more emptying a cupboard onto the bed the night before a deadline. ORIGINAL OR PHOTOCOPY — THE DIFFERENCE THAT MATTERS Most apps treat a document as one thing. In real life you have one original, an attested copy and three photocopies, and they live in different places. Shelfmark records each physical sheet separately, with its own form, its own location and its own state. WHO HAS YOUR ORIGINAL RIGHT NOW Lend the property card to a relative for a loan application and it quietly never comes back. Tap Hand over, type a name and an expected date, and Shelfmark tells you when it is late — with the number of days, so the reminder is a fact rather than an accusation. A REAL LOCATION MAP Places are real furniture: the steel almirah, the study cupboard, the bank locker. Inside each are the containers you actually use — File 3, the blue folder, a brown envelope. Open a place and read what is inside it, the way you would read the labels. RENEWALS THAT ARRIVE IN TIME Give a paper an expiry or renewal date and set how early you want to be warned. The home screen shows what is close and what has passed. THE HONEST PART: REGISTER HEALTH A half-filled register that pretends to be complete is worse than no register. Shelfmark scores yours out of 100 and names the exact papers letting it down — no location recorded, no original noted, past its return date. Every number on the Insights screen ends in something you can go and fix. BUILT TO BE PRIVATE, NOT JUST PROMISED • No account, no sign-in, no registration • No internet permission at all — the app cannot send anything anywhere • No permissions of any kind requested, ever • No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting • Works completely offline, on a plane, forever YOUR DATA IS YOURS Export the whole register to a plain JSON file wherever you choose, through Android's own file picker. Restore it with a summary and a confirmation before a single row is written. Erase everything with one confirmed action. MADE TO LOOK AFTER Warm paper tones, a considered serif, a full dark theme, and optional wallpaper colours on Android 12 and later. Custody and renewal states are readable by colour and always carry the word too, so nothing depends on seeing hue. WHAT SHELFMARK IS NOT It is not a scanner. It stores no images of your documents. It asks for a hint like "ends 4471" rather than a full account number, on purpose. It is an index to your filing system, not a replacement for it — and keeping your originals somewhere safe is still your job. If you have ever been asked "where are those papers?" and had to think about it, this is for you.

What's new

First release. • Record where each physical copy of a paper actually lives — place, container and the exact slot inside it • Track originals, certified copies and photocopies separately • Hand a copy over, set an expected return date, and be told when it is late • Expiry and renewal dates with your own warning lead time • Register health: a score plus the exact papers that need fixing • JSON backup and restore through Android's file picker
