BowLuthier

Craft exceptional longbows and recurves with BowLuthier, the ultimate reference and planning companion designed for traditional bowyers. Move away from trial-and-error construction by organizing material parameters, calculating design dimensions, and monitoring tuning sessions in one centralized mobile workspace. Key Features: Comprehensive Wood Reference: Study and compare various wood types for selfbow and laminated designs, including yew, osage orange, ash, and bamboo. Access valuable data on elastic modulus values and practical lamination pairings before tillering your stave. Precision Design Calculator: Compute your optimal limb taper profile and brace height for a specific target draw weight. Enter your precise stave geometry and material properties to generate clean, consistent profiles. Interactive Shooting & Tuning Log: Monitor performance shifts after every adjustment. Track arrow speeds from a chronograph, document the bow's acoustic signature, and log physical hand-shock to ensure a well-balanced, quiet build. Structured Project Tracking: Start a new build by logging vital project identity traits, including target draw weight, draw length, stave length, primary wood type, and detailed workshop notes. Customized Workshop Preferences: Tailor your project configurations in the settings workspace by selecting preferred draw weight units (lbs) and length units (inches), toggling tuning session reminders, and selecting your default bow style.
