Searo Orbit

Paint a metal plate, add heat, and watch 👀 the temperature spread across it. Searo Orbit is a small heat lab for your phone 📱. You build 🔨 a square plate out of different materials, set hot and cold edges, and watch 👀 how heat moves through it. Paint the plate with a brush. Choose from ten materials, from copper and aluminium to brick, glass, water, pine wood, EPS foam and still air. Place pins to hold a spot at a fixed temperature, drop probes to read the temperature at any point, and erase to start 🚀 a region again. Press play ▶️ and the plate changes colour as it warms. Colour bands and isotherm lines show the temperature field. A flux view shows where the heat flows. A gauge shows how close the plate is to steady state, with the time ⏱️ step, residual and estimated time left. When the plate settles, Searo Orbit shows the time it took, the final probe readings and the heat balance ⚖️ between the edges. Each probe draws its own curve of temperature against time ⏱️, so you can compare ⚖️ how fast ⚡ one spot heats up against another. What you can do: - Start 🚀 from eight ready-made scenarios, such as a copper cross, an insulated wall, a cooling fin and a cold bridge - Paint, pin, probe and erase on a 48 by 48 grid - Play ▶️, pause ⏸️, step or reset a run - Switch between isotherm, flux and plain views - Choose an explicit or an ADI solver - Read a catalog of materials with conductivity and diffusivity - Keep a log 📝 of finished runs and compare ⚖️ their trends 📈 - Show temperatures in °C, °F or K and pick a colour map 🗺️ Searo Orbit suits students, teachers and curious people who want to see 👀 how conduction works instead of only reading the formula.
