You are handed the phone of a missing person. It stopped transmitting at 01:23. Everything on it is readable — messages, photographs, deleted photographs, call logs, voice notes, locations and a locked vault — and almost none of it is explained. Nobody tells you what matters. You read somebody's whole phone the way you would read your own, and you work it out. CASE 01 — THE LAST SIGNAL Maya Arden, 27, leaves a restaurant at 21:44 and tells four people she is going home. Her phone says otherwise. Free, and complete: the whole case, the whole ending, no purchase and no account. HOW IT PLAYS • Open the handset. Fourteen apps, a real home screen, a vault you have to find the passcode for. • Evidence collects itself as you read, so you never take notes for the game. • Pin what you believe to the evidence board and draw the connections. The board surfaces contradictions you may not have noticed. • Prove a deduction and your own conclusion becomes a new piece of evidence. • Interview the people involved. Which questions you can ask depends on what you have actually proven. • Then name somebody, and argue it from the record. NOTHING GLOWS No quest marker points at the answer. On Normal, an item holding something you have not read carries a small dot. On Detective, it carries nothing at all. BUILT TO BE READ, NOT RUSHED Voice notes are produced in advance, not generated while you play, and every one is transcribed. Evidence photographs ship larger than anything else in the app so you can lean in instead of being shown a circle. Portrait, one hand, offline. OFFLINE AND PRIVATE The cases, the images and the audio all ship inside the app. There is no account, no login, no ads and no social layer. Your progress stays on your phone. ALL ACCESS Case 01 is free and stays free. Cases 02–20 are included in the All Access subscription, weekly or yearly. One subscription covers every case, including the ones added later. Cancel any time in Play Store → Subscriptions. Everyone, everywhere and everything in AFTERTRACE is fictional. Bellhaven is not a real city, and the passwords exist only as puzzles.
