BC Prehab App

The BC Prehab App brings evidence-informed perioperative care to the point of care — and to the patient. From the BC Prehab Faculty, it turns hold-and-continue decisions, investigation ordering, and surgical preparation into clear, date-specific plans. Choose your mode when you open the app. Providers get the full clinical toolkit; patients get a guided path to their surgery date. The app does not replace clinical judgement or individualised assessment. It is a decision-support reference for healthcare professionals, and a general information resource for patients. NOTHING YOU ENTER LEAVES YOUR DEVICE There is no account, no sign-in, and no server holding your information. Your medications, doses, checklist, questionnaire answers, notes, dates, and photographs are stored only on your phone. There are no analytics and no third-party tracking. The app makes one network request on its own: an anonymous download of updated clinical content from a public repository. It carries nothing about you — no identifier, no usage data, nothing you have entered. Medication guidance, the calculators and the hospital directory refresh this way, so corrections reach you without an app update; set the check to weekly, daily, or manual-only in About. Beyond that, the app goes online only when you tap a link, and then only to that hospital's or organisation's own site. Everything else works offline. Medication search, the investigation picker, the prehab tools, and PDF export need no connection at all. FOR PROVIDERS Search 483 medications by generic name, brand name, class, or category for perioperative guidance: continue, hold, or individualize. Enter a surgical date and get an exact calendar-based timeline for every medication decision. Work the PRATT investigation picker (PCADS Appendix B): choose the surgery by invasiveness or by searching 466 BC procedure codes, add patient factors, and get a tailored set of recommended tests, each with its citation and rationale. Use 18 interactive prehab resources built on validated instruments — STOP-Bang, PHQ-9, GAD-7, AUDIT-C, DAST-10 and more — scored as you answer, with branching algorithms that resolve to the guideline recommendation. Photograph a prescription label or medication list with ScanRx. Text recognition runs on-device, and a bundled Canadian drug vocabulary of more than 12,000 names lets the app flag a real medicine it holds no guidance for, rather than skipping it in silence.
