Babaru

Hello. I'm Babaru, a clown with a great deal to say, and this app is my brain. Switch on your Babaru plush, connect it to your phone and start talking. No typing, no menus. JUST TALK Ask Babaru a question, tell him about your day, or ask for a joke. His replies are made up on the spot by the AI running on your phone, so your conversations never follow a script. He starts talking within about a second and keeps you company while he thinks. THINGS TO DO TOGETHER • Jokes, including knock-knock jokes • The Riddle Drawer: riddles with hints whenever you want one, and no score or timer • Games: a story relay, an impossible debate, or one you make up • Fun facts from a library of facts checked before Babaru tells them • Stories, songs and a little pretend magic MAKE BABARU YOURS Three dials set his sense of humor, how strange he gets and how he disagrees with you. Choose them together. FOR GROWN-UPS Babaru is designed for ages 8 and up, set up and supervised by an adult. The account belongs to the adult. Behind a grown-up code you can set: • Who is talking: 8–11, 12–15, 16–17 or adult, which shapes his vocabulary and safeguarding • Language level: plain everyday words, standard or technical • Voice: bright, wry or quiet • Accessibility: buttons only (the microphone stays closed), a calmer screen and voice, and activities that don't need anyone to move around • Which phones can use your Babaru: up to four per toy PRIVATE BY DESIGN • The AI that writes Babaru's replies runs on your phone. Your words are never sent to a server to make a reply. • Speech is recognized on the phone too. • Conversations are not recorded, stored or sent to us. There is no transcript. • No ads, no data selling and no profiles. • Ask Babaru to forget and the conversation is cleared right away. • After the first download, Babaru works without an internet connection. WHAT YOU NEED • A Babaru plush (sold separately), registered with the code inside the box. Registering creates your Babaru account. • Wi-Fi the first time you open the app: Babaru's brain and voice are about 2 GB to download. • A reasonably recent Android phone. Babaru's brain runs on the phone itself, so phones with 4 GB of RAM or more work best. • Keep your phone close: Babaru listens through your phone's microphone and speaks through the plush. • Babaru speaks English only for now.
