Full description
There is free fruit growing on your street. FreeTree shows you where. FreeTree maps publicly accessible fruit and nut trees — apples, pears, cherries, plums, mirabelles, quinces, walnuts, sweet chestnuts and more — using the open tree registers that cities publish themselves. Over 1.3 million trees across more than 200 cities. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Browse the map. Every tree is a pin, coloured by what it bears. Filter by apples, pears, stone fruit, berries, nuts, or the rare finds. • See what is ready now. Harvest windows are worked out per species and per climate zone, so a walnut in Hamburg and one in Vienna do not claim the same week. • Save the trees you care about and get a notification when one comes into season. • Search by species or place, or just look at what is near you. • Report what you find: that a tree is ripe, already picked, or identified wrongly. Add a tree the city does not know about. • Watering advice during dry spells, for the young street trees that need it. BUILT ON PUBLIC DATA Every tree comes from a municipality's own open register, and every source is credited in the app with its publisher, licence and vintage. Nothing is scraped from somewhere it should not be. WORKS WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT Exploring, saving and reporting all work signed out. Your saved trees live on your device. An account is optional and exists so your list survives a new phone. NO ADS, NO TRACKING No advertising, no advertising identifiers, no analytics SDKs, and we never sell your data. Your location is used to answer the question in front of you and is not stored against your device. Servers are in Germany. PICK RESPONSIBLY Some of these are young trees with little to give yet. Take what you will use, leave some for the next person and for the birds, and do not damage branches. Available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch.

What's new

First public release. FreeTree maps 1.4 million public fruit and nut trees in 210 cities, from the open tree registers cities publish themselves — apples, pears, cherries, plums, walnuts, figs and berries — and tells you when each one is ripe. Free, no ads, and it works without an account.
